Support for International Students

Some of these include academic advising, English language support programs, career guidance, counseling services and, as if these were not amazing on their own, the International Students and Scholars Office offers assistance with visa-related issues and cultural adjustments! They provide a network of support to make sure students thrive academically and personally, conquering any challenge that comes with arriving in a new country.

Financial Aid and Scholarships at Pace University

Almost every student has financial concerns when choosing a school to go to. Now add the fact of moving to an entirely new country, probably living alone for the first time, maybe not knowing anyone… sounds scary? It can be! But Pace University works hard to help students overcome these challenges and make college life as fluid as possible. They offer various scholarships and financial aid options, ranging from merit-based scholarships, need-based grants, and work-study programs that are available to eligible students. Let’s break down these scholarships a little further.

Merit-Based Scholarships.

These are awarded based on academic achievement, talent, excellence, or leadership qualities. International students with exceptional academic records or outstanding achievements in extracurricular activities may qualify for these scholarships. Recipients are eligible to receive only one of Pace University’s merit scholarships, which are available for a term of maximum 4 years from the term in which the student entered the University. In some occasions, the award can last up to 5 years, such as for students that are enrolled in approved 5-year combined degree programs. This type of scholarship allows students to focus on their academic success, and lifts the weight of having to pay for their tuition, as long as the student maintains the minimum cumulative GPA requirement and a continuous full-time enrollment for each Fall and Spring term for which the award will be applied. Having the possibility of going to school without worrying about financial burden not only allows students to concentrate on their academic success, but also motivates them to continue the good work. However, keep in mind that international students cannot apply for financial support after they are admitted.

Need-Based Grants.

For those students that demonstrate a financial need, Pace University offers need-based grants aimed to help cover tuition costs. These are determined through a thorough assessment of the student’s financial situation. To be considered for need-based grants, students must submit the International Student FInancial Aid Application (ISFAA) to demonstrate their financial need.

Work-Study Programs.

International students with F-1 visas are eligible to work on-campus part-time, that is up to 20 hours a week, during the academic year. They are also eligible to work full-time during vacations! These positions enable students to earn money to contribute to their educational expenses, while also gaining valuable work experience and skills.

International Student Scholarships and Loans.

Pace University offers specific scholarships designed exclusively for international students. These can cover a portion of tuition fees and are awarded based on various criteria, including academic performance, leadership and community involvement. Specifically for international students, Pace offers limited financial support through merit scholarships to freshmen applying to the University. As an international student, you do not need to apply for this merit scholarship, since your application for admission serves as your scholarship application! If you are selected for an award, Pace University will notify you in your acceptance packet. Again, it’s important to reiterate that international students can’t apply for financial support after they have been admitted, so keep that in mind.

For international graduate students, Pace offers the Dean’s or President’s scholarship to those who have demonstrated their exceptional academic excellence. For this scholarship, eligibility is determined by the time of admission and international graduate students who have shown academic accomplishment in the past can be qualified for graduate assistantships that are either full or part-time.

Finally, international students can verify the availability of some of Pace University’s international student loans.

Safe and Welcoming Environment

Being alone in a different country might make some a little weary of safety, but Pace University has safety a top priority. The campus is equipped with security measures to ensure a secure learning environment. Safety measures like security personal, patrols, emergency response systems and collaboration with local law enforcement helps ensure the safety and well-being of its students, faculty and staff! The university’s Security and Safety Department works tirelessly and operates 24/7 and designed efficient protocols and systems. For instance, there are emergency call boxes strategically placed all across the campus, allowing students to quickly contact security in case of need.

An International Beacon

Overall, Pace stands as an exciting opportunity for international students seeking a unique experience, a transformative academic journey and a successful professional life. Pace’s commitment to embracing an international perspective through rigorous academic programs, extensive support services, numerous scholarships and a secure campus environment highlights the University’s dedication to ensuring every international student’s success.  In the heart of famous New York City, the University offers a fusion of academic excellence, cultural richness and a diverse yet inclusive community that creates an environment where students from around the world can feel at home.
